Playa Uvita and Bahia Ballena mark the north tip of Parque Nacional Marino Ballena, the largest Marine Park in Central America. The park protects a large coral reef and several secluded beaches, there are snorkeling and scuba trips to Ballena and Cano Islands. At low tide you can walk out a one-kilometer long sandbar to the exposed reef formation known as The Whale's Tail and snorkel right off the reef. Dolphins & whale's can be seen from the shore as well as on boat tours offering opportunities to swim with these beautiful creatures. Uvita Beach One of the most stunning beaches on the Southern Pacific coast, Uvita features moderate surf, safe for swimming, as well as estuaries and mangrove swamps, especially at its north end. This beach is ideal for kids, swimming, walking and horseback riding, as well as observing the marine life around Punta Uvita. Bars & Restaurants If you're looking for nightlife, Uvita / Bahia is the place, with several bars, each has a different special nearly every night of the week. If you want local flavor and less tourists, try the disco down in Bahia on Saturday nights and karaoke at Coco Tico Eco Lodge right in the heart of Uvita.
