types of residency
Basically there are 2 types of residency; permanents residency and temporary residency.
permanent residency has the following categories:

Retiree (Pensionados)

Rentist (Rentistas)

Investors
-
Foreigners whose children, spouse, parents, or single brothers are Costa Rican Citizens

Immigrants
temporary residency has the following categories:

Scientists, professionals, professors, or technicians hired by local corporations or institutions

Businessman or directors of local or foreign corporations
-
Students
-
Priests or religious men
Most commonly applied for are 'Pensionados', 'Rentistas' and 'Inversionistas', which can claim their
spouses and children under 18 as dependents. A child between 18 and 25 can be a dependent if he/she
is enrolled in a university (proof of enrollment is required).
