playa dominical - costa rica
Dominical, Costa Rica is known for its nature & eco-adventure. Dominical, the gateway to the South Pacific offers large masses of humid tropical forest that harbor unique species existing on the planet, an abundant marine diversity, national parks like Corcovado, Caño Island & Ballena, Pre-Colombian legacies and breathtaking natural treasures such as waterfalls, mountains, rivers and off course…the beaches.

Dominical Town
Dominical is a village (pueblo) of approximately 500 people and offers small ''supermercados'' for groceries, lots of hotels, restaurants, surfing equipment, beach clothes, souvenirs, internet cafes, real estate agents, tour operators, a hardware store and then some….

The various restaurants (international kitchen) and sodas (local kitchen) offer a tasty selection of food. (see restaurant section).

Later in the night one or two of these restaurants might change into a small-scale discotheque where local people from the wide area like to demonstrate their beloved meringue and salsa dances.

Dominical Beach
Dominical beach is well known around the world as one of the hottest places for surfing.

Beginner or expert, both will not be disappointed on the 'surf', swimmers must be aware of the DANGEROUS RIPTIDES that should not be underestimated!!

Dominical is a so-called red-flag beach, meaning the Dominical Life Guards (donations & purchase of t-shirts/calendars are welcome to keep saving lives!) are on duty on the beach from 9am to 5pm. Please read safety instructions on the beach (or ask) before entering the ocean.

Unfortunately the beach does not have public bathrooms or showers, but at some of the restaurants/cabinas you can you can make use of these facilities when you order something at the bar.

Bars & Restaurants
No shortage of night life in Dominical for those who seek it. Thrusters, next to the police station, is open every day after 4 pm and is a great place to meet & greet both locals and tourists.

On Thursdays there is ladies night in Tortilla Flat's and you like to get down and boogie, every Fridays there is Disco Night at San Clemente Bar & Grill, next to the soccer field.

Saturdays the place to be is Roca Verde, about 2 km South where the Ticos come to impress the tourists with Salsa and Marengue moves…no worries, they also play lot's of other music!

Furthermore various bars & restaurants sometimes offers life music.
