Exclusive Panama Beach Front Hotel

This hotel is spectacularly build on a peninsula and surrounded by 2 white sand beaches. Located on one of the last remaining unspoiled places on earth, Parque Nacional de Chiriqui in the Pacific Ocean of Panama.

Bordering the Park on Isla Boca Brava you'll find Boutique hotel & eco-resort Cala Mia with an amazing 360º view restaurant, an infinity pool, 7 individual bungalows and 2 double bungalows, which can be rented individual. The grounds allow for expansion with another 5 to 10 bungalows. 

A small island in front of the restaurant is connected by a suspension-bridge and houses the spa and sun-set deck. The surrounding beach on the bay has a swimming-platform in the ocean and on the beach are sun chairs and kayaks available.

Cala Mia is only accessible by a lovely boat ride of about 15 minutes through the breathtaking marine park and waterways of this region. Uncountable little islands are passed on the way before docking at the private floating dock, which holds up to 10 boats. The hotel owns two boats; a 26 foot, 250 hp luxury taxi boat for up to 10 passengers and a 12 foot, 15hp dinghy, which are included in the sale.

The entire hotel is solar powered with a 4000 Watts inverter that converts the direct current to an alternating 110 Watts. A silent back-up diesel generator of 7Kw provides electricity automatically in case of over-demand or shortage of sunlight. Water is provided for by its own well; a second well is on the premises as reserve.

The property consists of 13 acres total. 5 Acres on which the hotel is build and 8 acres on the other side on the beach, bordering the future public road. The property is titled as "possession". Legal proof of ownership is the declaration of The Municipality of San Lorenzo that the Legal Corporation of Cala Mia is the possessor, without contest, of the property.

The hotel counts with a 5-star classification of IPAT and has all legal paperwork up-to-date like building permits, IPAT (min. of tourism) operational license, environmental studies approved etc. etc. Cala Mia is affiliated with Small and Selective Hotels and the best upscale-operators in such like AnconTtravels, Eco Circuito, Luxury etc.

The hotel achieved an occupancy-rate of around 30% for the first 6 months of it’s opening(!). The immediate future is promising based on Christmas-bookings and bookings for 2008. Travel agents are raving about Cala Mia and an occupancy-rate of 60 to 70% for the second season seems feasible!  Rates for next season are $ 180.- per bungalow (2 persons). A typical "bungalow" doubles its invoice for extra's like: lunch, dinner, bar and tours.

Cala Mia presently employs: A French couple as chef and general manager, a Panamanian couple for captain and head restaurant, 1 waiter, 1 waitress, 2 cleaning staff and a gardener.
